Moncks Corner, South Carolina, was almost wiped off the map back when hurricane Hugo roared through (9/22/89).
It was located just a few miles on the northeast side of the storm, "which is the absolute worst place to
be during a hurricane. The eye of the storm passed right through the town. When it hit South Carolina it had SUSTAINED winds of 140 MPH." Hugo is the biggest, strongest hurricane to ever hit the East coast north of Florida.

"Moncks Corner wanted ONLY Plasti-Fab shelters on their recent upgrade
because of the performance of the +25 year old shelter. This shelter has been through a lot and is still standing."
